D 365 F&O Project Manager

This role is with a fast growing US based MS Gold partner thats develops and sells its own Microsoft Dynamics ISV plug-in products, resells various other ISV plug-in/add-on products, and has business relationships with offshore development providers. The project teams often include an Engagement Manager, PM, functional consultants (CRM, T&L, MFG, FM, BI, AI), developers, and system engineers.  Client Project Teams can often include Client Project Sponsor, Steering Committee, Client PM, super users, IT representatives, IT developers, and internal Quality team members.

The Project Manager will serve as the primary authority figure and business ambassador on client projects. 


Set and Manage Client Expectations

  • Define project objectives, impact and critical success factors.
  • Educate joint team on implementation methodology and deliverables.
  • Maintain and communicate the Project Plan to avoid surprises
  • Manage the SOW scope, budget and timeline
  • Understand software limitations and align expectations to software capabilities.
  • Realistically assess customer requests and discourage high-risk customizations.
  • Differentiate between critical and non-critical items and triage according to their impact on go-live.
  • Facilitate open and honest project progress assessments and disclose unanticipated difficulties as soon as possible.
  • Distribute information to team members in a timely fashion.

Visible and Proactive Project Leadership

  • Adapt to client personality and manage the relationship
  • Be available to manage morale of internal resources
  • Lead key client-facing meetings and actively contribute to project discussions (including sometimes contentious Steering Committee meetings with the Project Sponsor and other client department leads)
  • Prepare 6-weeks in advance for “downstream” project deliverables
  • Articulate project solutions on a business level and welcome project questions and concerns
  • Monitor client progress to ensure requirements are fulfilled on time
  • Manage important client activities and deliverables (business process design, user training, etc.)
  • Educate clients on change management strategies and help guide them
  • Increase project clarity by identifying issues and communicating them in a timely fashion
  • Maintain all project deliverables on the internal repository in a timely fashion
  • Manage AR balance to keep current
  • (Re-)Sell SOW solution value to new stakeholders who join the project midstream
  • Business Development and identification of new sales opportunities for client business needs (record in CRM)
  • Introduce and recommend supplementary SMEs
  • Manage out-of-scope items that can be pushed to the next phase
  • Pursue follow-up business opportunities
  • Lead Account Planning and Forecasting for the account
  • Prepare and Process Change Orders in timely fashion (do not work without a signed SOW or Change Order)

Project Delivery Administration

  • SOW contract management
  • Administrative functions
  • Weekly Project Status Reporting
  • Project Financial Reporting (e.g. Budget vs Actuals)
  • Client Billing and Collections
  • Resource Scheduling and Availability Issue Resolution
  • Formalized problem escalation procedures


  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in project management successfully delivering solutions. Previous experience with CRM, ERP, financial or enterprise solutions a must.
  • BS degree in Systems Engineering, Business Management, Management Information Systems or equivalent.  MBA strongly preferred.
  • Preferred experience with software-centric solution design, Change management, Business Process Design, Organizational Design experience, Product training experience
  • Preferred experience with Software Development (any language), Testing Methodology, Waterfall Development, Agile Development Methodology. Brings Hands-on Consulting Experience and Expertise.  PMP certification strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with direct sales or consulting firm experience (or internal corporate consulting experience) are familiar with the various challenges of delivering client service and consulting services.
  • Must possess outstanding communication and presentation skills, with proven experience with negotiating, issue resolution, coaching, task estimation, ability to influence and lead change.
